Why Does the Injector Fail?
Injector
failure can result in a lack of fuel or low traction in cars. If you have such
problems, this article is of interest to you.
For example, if a vehicle fitted with a timing belt is not changed according to the manufacturer's instructions, it can cause serious engine damage. As a result, if we pay attention to the manufacturer's instructions and maintain the timing belt, we can avoid failure, in addition to the economic cost that comes with this. The fuel supply system can be diesel or petrol injection. The job of the injector is to give the necessary power and to provide the necessary fuel for the smooth movement of the vehicle and to obtain maximum torque.
How does it
work? Injectors are the components responsible for injecting the ground fuel.
It sprays fuel directly into the combustion chamber (indirect fuel injection)
or into the piston head.
Injectors
are a nozzle with very small holes with a specific orientation, consisting of a
needle responsible for opening and closing the fuel passage to the nozzle and a
mechanism that opens and closes the said needle. In the beginning of the
injection systems, opening and closing of the needle was accomplished with the
same fuel pressure originating from a distributor pump. In existing systems, it
is electronically made in the same injector and controlled by an electronic
unit.
What should we pay attention to?
If you had performed the periodic control of the injection
system, it would be less and less to see diesel vehicles with injection
problems caused by a number of factors that could cause preventable
malfunctions. Maintenance of the fuel system and replacement of the fuel filter
are extremely important within the kilometers recommended by the manufacturer.
Otherwise, it will be one of the factors that will cause problems in diesel
injectors and dirt will enter the injector. And it could cause it to fail or
even render it useless.
Another mistake you may encounter in the injector is the wear of the parts due to their age. Defects during the manufacture of injectors and malfunctions caused by the use of poor quality fuels with less additives. These failures cause the injector parts to close airtight and the fuel sprayed from the injector does not reach its place. Another typical malfunction is problems with the injector nozzle. It is not resistant to high temperatures and pressures inside the cylinder. The pressure at which the injectors are operating causes the nozzle orifices to be worn, resulting in poor injection or even dripping of the fuel. (However, they tend to be damaged earlier due to carbon build-up from combustion, which causes clogging.)
This failure is also caused by poor fuel
quality and not changing the fuel filter according to the manufacturer's
instructions. Another factor that will cause the injectors to malfunction and
fail is the fuel. The poor quality of some fuels will cause internal clogging
of components, resulting in malfunction and engine failure. Refueling at gas
stations that offer cheap fuels provides economical savings when it comes to
refueling, but breakdowns can cause quite expensive costs due to insufficient
fuel additives.
